About me!

I’m a first-generation Middle Eastern American actor, writer and editor from Houston, Texas, where shows at the Alley Theatre and lots of hot afternoons for playing pretend nudged me toward my career. All the time I was reading obsessively, correcting everyone’s grammar and submitting poems to the rodeo writing contest (yes). These are the things I care most about: self-expressing, and helping other people to do it.

I hold degrees in acting and English literature from Northwestern. Since college I’ve been performing and writing and sometimes pretending to write onstage. I’ve taught myself guitar, eaten lots of ice cream and made movies in Pennsylvania and coastal Maine. This year I learned how to roller skate. As an editor, I’ve copyedited children’s book series, fact-checked hard science and reported on issues facing my homeland.

My favorite moments are working with other Middle Eastern artists on projects that center our expression, our histories, our language, our music. We, too, belong in the theatre.
